Just the Facts
The 41st Parliament resulting from the May 2 general election is getting set up. While a number of MPs are still moving in and out of their offices, reflecting the sea of changes that has brought 111 new members to Parliament Hill, responsibilities are slowly being assigned. On June 13, we learned a bit more with the announcement of the various standing committees in the House of Commons.
Understandably, the CCA is particularly interested in the members who sit on the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage. At the opening of the 41st Parliament, these members include:
- Charlie Angus, NDP (Timmins – James Bay)
- Scott Armstrong, Conservative (Cumberland-Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley)
- Tyrone Benskin, NDP (Jeanne – Le Ber), Official Opposition critic for Heritage
- Marjolaine Boutin-Sweet, NDP (Hochelaga)
- Gordon Brown, Conservative (Leeds – Grenville)
- Paul Calandra, Conservative (Oak Ridges – Markham), Parliamentary Secretary for Canadian Heritage
- Parm Gill, Conservative (Brampton – Springdale)
- Jim Hillyer, Conservative (Lethbridge)
- Rob Moore, Conservative (Fundy – Royal)
- Pierre Nantel, NDP (Longueuil - Pierre Boucher)
- Scott Simms, Liberal (Bonavista—Gander—Grand Falls—Windsor), Liberal Party critic for Heritage
- Terence Young, Conservative (Oakville)
